Anybody know anything about DSL modems?

A few months back I had connection issues. Couldn't get on the internet. DSL light on the modem was blinking. Went through the usual troubleshooting steps of resting the modem, unplugging power, unplugging the eithernet, unplugging the phone line, and resarting the computer. Did this twice. Went to the modem page and see "No DSL Sync".

After trying several times I gave in and called support. Just to please the person on the phone I went through the steps once again.

Finally got handed off to someone I needed in the first place. They checked the line and ran tests on the modem. Modem needed replacing. Got the new one and everything was working again.

Today same thing was happening. Did everything I could think of again. Just to see if it worked I hooked up the old modem (yes I still had it). DSL light was steady but no internet. Tried but couldn't access the modem. So back to the newer one.

Now everything is working again. What the hell?

was your company doing repairs or upgrades?

It's possible. Didn't bother checking. It's doing fine now.
